OFF!-The Strange Hollywood CA 12/17/10

This show was a fucking adventure. Me and my girlfriend had to bus it there while it was raining cats and more cats. We walk for 10 min in this industral area where all these trucks and factorys are in Downtown LA. We get there and there like 5 people already waiting. We wait and see Keith Morris being the badass he is inside. More punks and those lame indie kids show up. They make us form a line. Then the pigs come round. We waited forever for response from the guy in charge. He tells us that it was moved to a venue in Melrose Street Hollywood. The guy and some other jerk got all pissy because I asked if they would provide transportation. As the popo was kicking us out I meet up with a friend. Soon this punk rocker asked all the kids around him who was taking the bus. As me and others raised our hands the group walked a long time to a train station. After meeting a man who walked like a zombie and a bum who asked if were going to the rave,we finally made the bus after a long hard walk in the rain. My friend who was already in the show texted me that wernt letting people in. I was pissed! We finally got there and it was true. The same spokesman was being a dick telling us to leave the area. I can hear the first band playing,White Shit. They were the only other band I wanted to see. Hardcore with Grungy taste,of coarse since they have members of The Melvins. Think a faster Flipper. We waited 'til we decided to walk around. Then the man yelled at us to go in. We ran like chickens and got in.

Now the review starts. 2nd band Nobunny was finishing up. The singer had bunny ears and they sounded really garage punk. Not really my type of music but they ended it with a Spinal Tap cover of
"Tonight Im Rock You". Meh!

Finally the band I walked, bused, and took 2 trains for was up. I got up the front as my friends started pitting for Suicidal Tendencies on the speakers.  Then the place was OFF! They really cracked it up to 11. The whole place went nuts and I fell like twice. People were jumping and shoving. I felt like a lucky youngster in the Decline Of Western Civilization. I wish I could describe more to you but its really something you have to be there to see. I hated Circle Jerks live when I saw them back in May cause Keith wasn't into it and he talked like half the time. I knew OFF! would be different since its brand spankin' new and Keith hasn't played these songs over 1000 times. I strongly suggest you see them live if you have the chance. Listen to the First Four Ep's out now already. After I told Keith how much I enjoyed the show and took a picture with him like I've been wanting since I was 14. He had talked on stage not to bother him since he was sick and stuff but oh well. When I kindly asked he said "GO FOR IT! He's one of the grumpy but really nice guys.
                              Set List:
                                    Black Thoughts
                                    Now I'm Pissed
                                    I Don't Belong
                                     Full Of Shit
                                   Poison City
                                     Killing Away
                                    Jeffrey Lee Pierce
                                    Rat Trap
                                    Fuck People
                                    Panic Attack
                                    Upside Down

While at the other venue I noticed OFF! wasn't headlining which was lame. The Oh Sees were. Keith was a fan of them but I wasn't. Another kindly indie act you hear on car commercials now and days. Not my cup of tea.

This will be my last major show of the year and im glad it went out with a bang. A crazy adventure turned to an amazing show.

Evile/Gama Bomb-Reaction,Anaheim,CA 12/12/10

So like most teenagers,I have a crappy house life. WORST day to gamble away my child support mom! Luckily I have really good friends who buy me tickets just for being the dude I am. The three main bands played on Monday opening for legendary Forbidden. But since im always broke I decided to go to this one for Gama Bomb. Plus the Whiskey has lame rules. Now the Chain Reaction is a very small venue in the Disneyland city of Anaheim. Ive been there once for Ceremony and its the great place to go if you love stage diving and getting on stage to sing a long. If you ever plan a vacation to Disneyland, make sure you go to a show here.

Me and my buddy's got there, bought tickets off an opening bands mother, and talked to a member of Exmortus who didn't play but showed support. If you don't know who they are listen to them ASAP!

Two local bands played and I went end toward the end of Madrost. I wanted to see some of them since they were nice enough to give me a free demo at a Toxic Holocaust show. Pretty decent Death/Thrash Metal.

Up next were Southern Californians new hit Bonded By Blood. This was my 4th time seeing these guys. Im a huge fan,but this was their first show with new singer Mauro from local band,Mutants Of War. For a while ive been kinda upset since original vocalist,Alladin, left and his voice was really unique to the band. Mauro proved me wrong and they still kick ass. Funny part was original singer Alladin was actually there supporting his old band mates. Now thats a band. New singer Mauro talked to me for a bit and was a really nice guy.If you havnt heard their two albums already I suggest you do now. One of my all time favorite thrash bands.

Up next was the main reason I went. Who ever made this flyer is a total dumbass for not putting their name on it. GAMA BOMB from Ireland. Right away I left to the front. BOOM! They started and I went nuts! This band gets down and they mean business. Ever since theyre new (and free) album,Tales From the Grave In Space, ive been wanting to see them. Months later they finally came. Think Overkill mixed with Comic Books,Sci-Fi,and Kurt Russel. I kept yelling for my favorite song. Soon people around me were chanting for it too. They said they wernt gonna do it but since it was a request they did it. The song ive been waiting for since February;"WE RESPECT YOU". The song is about all the things they love from the Terminator soundtrack to Christopher Walken. My plan for months actually succeeded. I got on stage and sang the part I wanted to sing;"Peter Falk can walk the walk he tells it like it is!" then I jumped off. I went nuts 'til they sang another favorite of mine: "Three Witches". I was too tired to try to get on stage again. So I went near singer, Philly, and asked for the microphones during the part,"Now you've got no balls....Eyeballs that is!".Then he let me do the high pitch scream which I failed but it was still nice of him. They were the highlight of that show, and im so glad I caught them live.

Evile from England headlined the show that night. Im not such a fan of them but my buddy was so he was all into it. They were great live band and the pit went crazy. I enjoyed them from the side. It's good to see the band is still going strong since the recent death of bass player,Mike Alexander(RIP). Check out Enter the Grave if you love Slayer style sing about Rambo. Great band.

GWAR-House Of Blues,Hollywood CA 11/16/10

If you haven't seen Gwar live at a show, then you've probably never had much fun at a show. I seriously felt like a little kid at slime time live or something. Me and my buddy got there late due to buying anal lube, bumping hoobastank, and talking star wars;yes we were getting ready for GWAR!

We got there and The Casualties were getting ready,I saw these guy 4 years ago when i was 14. I felt so punk rock again singing a long to all the lyrics plus the new songs from their new album(ive been wanting to see them live since the new cd). They still kick ass except singer Jorge Herrera is getting kinda old for screaming so at the end of songs he kinda sounded like he was trying to do death metal vocals. Still great tho. Of coarse there were street punx there who just went for them. Kinda lame if you ask me(this show was like $35 while you can see Casualties headline for less than $20.)

Set Included from my crappy memory(im sure this is it,not exact order tho):
Casaulties Army
We Are All We Have
Tomorrow Belongs To Us
Criminal Class
Rise And Fall
Social Outcast
Media Control
Looking Thru Bloodshot Eyes
Made In NYC
Blitzkrieg Bop(Ramones)
Heart Bleeds Black
Unknown Soldier

After they were done, the punks moved back while the white shirt scumdogs moved upfront. We were all ready to get wet. Ive seen pics of ppl gettin only wet face to mid chest. I was wrong,as soon as Horror Of Yig started they chopped off two zombies heads and blood was getting all over my face. Aliens were murdered,Lady GaGa's tits were removed, and Orderus came on my face. GWAR is the best band to see live and I will try to see them again next year. Great fuckin show. GWAR is still amazing after 26 years.
